LIMPOPO NURSE JAILED FOR SELLING ARVs

A Limpopo nurse has been jailed for stealing and selling antiretroviral (ARV) tablets.

The Morebeng Regional Court found Mokgadi Ramusi (45) guilty of contravening the Medicine and Related Substances Act 101 of 1965.

She was sentenced to four years imprisonment, of which two years was suspended for five years, or pay a fine of R20 000.

According to Limpopo Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke, Hawks made the arrest after receiving a tip-off that a woman was selling ARVs in the city centre of Polokwane.

In an undercover operation, Ramusi tried to sell the sealed bottles containing ARV’s to a cop for R7500.

An investigation revealed that she stole the ARV tablets from Botlokwa Clinic where she was based.
