A MAN believed to be coming home from working night shift died after crashing into a bulldozer yesterday morning.
The accident happened on the notorious M17 in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth, and according to residents it wasn’t far from the victim’s home.
Bystanders said they heard a big bang and the sound of metal ripping.
They said the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the accident happened.
Cops and paramedics rushed to the scene. When the SunTeam arrived, the front of the BMW was still crushed into the front of the bulldozer.
Police spokesman Constable Mncedi Mbombo told Daily Sun: “The accident happened at about 7am on Monday morning on Nzunga Road. It’s alleged the 55-year-old driver of a white BMW collided head on with a bulldozer.
“He was travelling alone and died on the scene.
“It’s alleged the bulldozer and the BMW were coming from opposite directions when the BMW veered directly towards the bulldozer and crashed into it.
“At this stage we are not sure what caused the accident. The victim’s name will be disclosed once his next of kin are informed.
The driver of the bulldozer was not injured and was not arrested. A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.”
